Real Mccoy cookie jar

I have two cookie jars in my house. Neither of them ever stored sweet treats. One is covered in cheerful yellow daisies. I don't really like yellow but I love that particular jar.

The other one is Mr. Macoy. He was given to me years back (by a dear friend). He reminds me of carefree times right after college. It certainly contradicts my design style these days, but keeping a few quirky pieces brightens up my home.

I have a simple philosophy when it comes to my stuff. Use it, need it or toss it, unless it makes you smile. If something can fit into more than one of those three requirements, I am thrilled. So, I alway try to find a regular use for the oddities I love. Here are my...

creative and sweet organizing uses for the everyday cookie jar.

Compost Collector – You could use one of those mass produced composting contraptions or you could add a pop of personality to your kitchen space. I prefer the latter. BTW, I have used a small jar for years. I have never had an issue with odor.

Receipt Collector - My guy is pretty good with helping me out around the house, but he does have one really annoying habit. He tends to empty his pockets, wherever. Daily, I find business cards, scribbles and receipts scattered around. A cookie jar makes a great temporary home for the daily “crumbs”.

Coin Collector – Every laundry room needs a cash cow. Mr. Macoy is mine. A place to put all the treasures found on laundry day. Don’t you just love finding the bills, especially the big ones?

So, if grandmas cookie jar is collecting dust, pull it out and start enjoy the memories it held or let it go.
